Festive Celebration at Registry of Political Parties Commission

As Christmas approach many organisation are preparing for the holiday as well as end of year function. This year was no exception as IPPCC held a brief presention were staff at their own initiative bought gift for their workmates. My gift was a mobile phone while I got a cutlery set for the person I pull out during a raffle. The function was held at Heli Fix, 7 Mile and was attended by most staff and their spouse as well as invited guests. There were plenty of food and drinks to go around. I did wanted to have a sneek preview of the PM's jet but was out of the hanger that day.

NONU SPEECH DAY 2009

The Nonu Independent School ends its academic year with its Speech Day held at Port Moresby Inservice College on the 27 of November 2009. The whole school took part as everyone presented items starting with the kindies up to grade seven. Jeremiah’s class presented an item called “A King is born”. Jeremiah also picked up a prize for the most improved student in pre-school. He will be moving onto Prep in 2010.

PNG 2050 Vision Launch

Today marks a significant day for PNG as a whole. The launch of the 2050 Vision. The day began as early as 4am this morning (18/11/009) at Independence Hill with a flag raising ceremony. VIP present included Deputy Prime Minister Sir Puka Temu, Foreign Dignitaries, Departmental Heads as well as school children who also participated in this activity. The long term planning is a road map that is a guide for Papua New Guinea for the next 40 years. This strategic plan was put together over six months after much consultation with people in the Districts, and LLGs Wards. As dawn fell , the plan was carried to Parliament House for Parliament Sitting in which the PM tabled it on the floor.

The second part of the programme saw the plan brought to Sir John Guise Stadium for the official launch by the PM. Present at the occasion where the Governor General, Grand Chief Sir Paulius Matane, Deputy Prime Minister, Sir Puka Temu, NCD Governor, Hon Powes Parkop and overseas dignitaries and departmental heads and staff of each government agencies. Xmas lights are out.

Christmas is just around the corner and the neighbors have come out in full force with their decorative lights. Nearly all stores in town by now are all decorated with their decorations. One that impresses me the most is the one at Unagi Oval where a variety of lights from different artificial trees line up the road side. In the center stands big white board used as screens for viewing movies.

Body work

Had a former school mate to do the body work of the vehicle. Came originally with a big scratch. Its a good thing coz the initial selling price was slashed. Looks great now but still needs to get an original coating to match the whole vehicle or repaint it again. Had some spectators also. Now thats another blog.

IPPCC and Fire Service Induction into Public Service

The Induction course (into the Pubic Service) for the Registry of Political Parties and Candidates Commission and Fire Services staff ran from the 26^th to the 30^th of October at the Papua New Guinea Institute of Public Administration (PNGIPA). Over the course of the week the staffs were reminded to uphold and maintain their integrity in the office they occupy. The course touched a number of key areas including public service structures and levels, Training, Human Resources and Customer Services. The week ended with a swearing in witnessed and officiated by the Registrar Sir Kina Bona.

The Registry of Political Parties and Candidates Commission website is at its final stage of completion. Just uploaded the files onto the web server and making sure everything is displaying as well as the buttons. Independence at Nonu 09

Nonu Independent School at Boroko had a pre-Independence Day celebration before going for their term 3 holiday. Most kids came equipped in their traditional costumes representing their provinces. My son this year was dressed up in the Central traditional attire. The day began with speeches by the Principle and the invited guest before the parading of students in their costumes.
