Passing of Late Blaise Turgone

Late Blaise Turgone was a quiet achiever. He never showed any signs of complaint where ever he was tasked anything. His commitment saw him move through the ranks to his substantive position as as Manager, Budget and Finance in the Registry of Political Parties Commission. His sudden departure came to everyone as a shock on the early hours of Monday morning 19th May around 12:30am. His departure leaves a vacuum in the Corporate Services Division. He is survived by his wife and five children. He was finally laid to rest at his village of Wairiki village in the East New Britain Province on the 24th May 2014. RIP brother Blaise

Junior meeting up with Senior

The reunion with Ian’s dad was an emotional one as the two have not seen each other for more than twenty five years since the Bougainville crisis. Ian Jnr would often spent Christmas in Arawa where his dad was working and residing. When the crisis erupted the expatriates had to be evacuated down south or their home countries.Ian Snr with then his Bougainvillean wife and three daughters moved to Cairns, Australia. Ian jnr has five half brothers and four half sisters. After so many years apart, Ian finally met his dad on the 24th December 2013 in Cairns, Australia. It was an emotional reunion as that same year they had just seen the passing of Robert, Ian’s eldest brother. He was very much so instrumental in this reunion. Annemarie was there that day.

The registry of political parties commission held their 4th and final training workshop at Kimbe, West New Britain Province early December 2013. This training gives political parties tools to develop their party base within their community and to work towards in winning elections in the next general election in 2017. Training associates such as the Labor Party Australia International also took partner in this program.

Waste management has become an issue in coastal villages these days. When not managed well it becomes a hazard to health and the environment as a whole. As with buai, government has been talking about plastic ban but that has not taken place yet. Ela Celebrates Childrens’ Day

The Ela United Church celebrated the Childrens Day on the 16th November 2013. The fun day included various activities from sack race, spoon race to ice cream feed made the fun filled day a memorable one. The activities ended with a little kaikai and a cake to celebrate the occasion. The Ela Congregation currently have service at the Pastors resident in Badili where a temporary hall(Gentle Whisper) has been built due to the construction of the new church in downtown Port Moresby. Currently Rev Raka Aiga is the Minister being posted to the Ela Congregation. Church worship starts from 10am to 12noon every Sunday.

Welcoming 2013 in the Nations Capital, Port Moresby

Various celebrations took place in different parts of Port Moresby. As residents sit up late till 12 midnight to welcome the New Year, the noisy atmosphere around the city was sure to keep people partying up till late. For the fireworks, Lamana put up a spectacular display to the delight of most residents around Tokarara, Hohola, Waigani, Gordons, Garden Hill and East Boroko. A bit of the fireworks could be viewed at Koukou but not too obvious due to the distance and the hills. At Koukou village, fireworks and various celebrations took place. The night skies filled up with privately funded fireworks display as well as flares transforming the sleepy villages of Tatana, Baruni and Koukou into magnificent scenery in the early mornings of 2013.
