As we celebrate the New Year 2012 in our own way, back here in Papua New Guinea it was a low key event as many residents kept it at their own back yard. The skies of Koukou were filled with flares and music all throughout the night. Though the day was very wet, the night saw a dry celebration until day break when heavy downpours marred any new year’s outdoor celebration. The major fireworks were at Lamana Hotel.
